Once a year, on a Friday at the end of September, around 20 Uruguayan wineries bring more than 100 wines to La Calandria Polo Club in Salto for one night of tasting. It is the Salón del Vino Fino, run by the Rotary Club Salto Noreste, and every ticket pays for a scholarship for a young person from the countryside. The 2026 edition sold out. The 2027 date is not announced yet; in recent years it has been the last Friday of September.
What you request here is not the ticket, which Rotary sells, but the weekend around it: I send you the Rotary contact to buy your ticket at list price (US$50 per person, UYU 2,000 in 2026), the date as soon as it is announced, a short list of where to stay and eat, the option of a guided winery visit near Salto, and Sunday in the hot springs.
