Meet the Founder
A Salto native now based in London, where he works as a renewable energy engineer. Over years of conversations with European friends and colleagues who had never heard of Salto — despite knowing Montevideo or Buenos Aires well — Mathias grew increasingly convinced that his home city was one of the most underrated destinations in South America. That conviction became the idea behind Visit Salto.

I am from Salto and I believe this region deserves a place on the international travel map. Not because it is trying to be something it is not — but because it is entirely, authentically itself: hot springs fed by one of the world's great aquifers, a sweeping river border with Argentina, food that rivals anything on the continent, and a pace of life that visitors from New York, London and Berlin find genuinely restorative.
Visit Salto exists to bridge the gap between curious international travellers and a city that has been hiding in plain sight. This is not a travel agency. I care deeply about where I come from — and I want to make sure that if you visit, you experience it properly.
