I grew up in Salto. I know its hot springs at sunrise, its parrillas on a winter evening, its river in every season. Visit Salto exists because I believe this place, my place, deserves to be known by the world. I write it in English, I plan private, bespoke trips, and I answer my own messages.
Who is behind this
Meet the Founder
A Salto native now based in London, where he works as a renewable energy engineer. Over years of conversations with European friends and colleagues who had never heard of Salto, despite knowing Montevideo or Buenos Aires well, Mathias grew increasingly convinced that his home city was one of the most underrated destinations in South America. That conviction became the idea behind Visit Salto.

I am from Salto and I think it deserves a place on the map for international travellers. The reasons are plain: hot springs fed by the Guaraní Aquifer, the Uruguay River with Argentina on the other bank, good food, and a slower pace of life than the one most visitors come from.
Visit Salto exists so that a traveller who has never heard of Salto can find it, and find it explained by someone from here. This is not a travel agency. I care deeply about where I come from, and I want to make sure that if you visit, you experience it properly.
