Water Park Day at Salto Grande

A day at the water park on the shore of the lake at Salto Grande, 15 km north of the city, the one in Salto that never closes for the winter: seven attractions on hot-spring water, from the three Anaconda slides and a 180 m lazy river to the first hot-spring wave pool in Uruguay, in the park's words, with a castle in the children's pool and a giant waterfall for the adults. You pay the ticket at the gate; I tell you what to hire early, what the park's site does not say, and how to add the lake and the sunset at the end of the day.

What's Included

  • A ticket to the park for the day: the seven attractions, from the Anaconda slides to the hot-spring wave pool, open every day of the year
  • Free lockers (bring a padlock), a restaurant and a mini-market inside, and a large car park at the gate
  • My note on how to get there and back, what to bring and what to hire early in the day; the park confirms anything its site does not cover
  • The lake at the door: Parque del Lago for a walk along the shore and the sunset over the water when everyone has had enough
