Parque Acuático Termas de Salto Grande

The hot springs water park on the shore of the lake, 15 km north of the city: warm pools, slides, a lazy river and a wave pool, open to everyone every day of the year

The Place

Warm Water on the Lake Shore

Parque Acuático Termas de Salto Grande is the water park at Parque del Lago, on the Uruguayan shore of the lake north of Salto, about 15 km from the centre. It is open to everyone, every day of the year, public holidays included, from 10:00 to 18:00, and the ticket is paid at the gate. Of the two water parks in Salto it is the one that never closes for the winter.

The park lists seven attractions: three long slides it calls the Anaconda, a 180 m lazy river floated down on rubber rafts, a big pool with different depths, a giant waterfall with a hydromassage pool for 30 people, underwater loungers under a row of massage showers, a children's pool with a castle in the middle, and Playa Paraíso, which the park describes as the first hot-spring wave pool in Uruguay. There is a restaurant, a mini-market, free lockers and a large car park.

For a day out with children it is the easiest choice in Salto: warm water, something for every age, and the lake a few steps away for a walk when everyone has had enough. On Sundays at 15:15 there is a foam party.

Good to Know

Before You Go

01
Food and Drink

Restaurant La Casona does short-order dishes, sandwiches, coffee and a parrillada. The Mini Mart sells kiosk goods, ice creams, biscuits, yerba and sunscreen.

02
Lockers and Hire

Lockers are free but limited, and they take your own padlock, or one bought at the park. Tables, chairs, sun loungers, rafts, towels and bathrobes are for hire, also in limited numbers, so the park suggests hiring early in the day.

03
Parking and ID

A large car park at the gate. Salto residents show ID for the resident price, and the 30-day pass is for residents too.

04
Maintenance

Attractions and services can be out of action for maintenance, in the park's own words, so a slide or a pool may be closed on the day. Pets, re-entry and what you can bring in are not covered on the park's site: the WhatsApp line below is the place to ask.

Getting There and Making a Day of It

01
Getting There

North of the city on the road to the international bridge, at Parque del Lago: about 15 km, 20 minutes by car or taxi (fares on saltouruguay.com).

02
The Lake

Parque del Lago is the park's front garden: a walk along the shore, sailing boats in the autumn, and the sunset over the water at the end of the day. The Stay page covers sleeping by the lake.

04
The Other Water Park

Acuamanía, beside Termas del Daymán, is the bigger one, with ten rides, but it is open-air and seasonal, September to March. This one is the all-year option. The Spa Day puts a full day in hot water and a massage together, with this park as one of the three choices.
