🇺🇾 Salto, Uruguay · Inaugurated 2011
AGUA
CLARA
Salto's most tranquil thermal park — four large pools at 45 °C from a 1,200 m deep bore, on the peaceful banks of the Río Daymán. Hydrotherapy, massage, Scandinavian showers and a deep natural silence.
Salto's Most Tranquil
Thermal Park
Inaugurated in 2011, Parque Termal Agua Clara was conceived from the start as a place of rest — not spectacle. Sprawling across 3,800 m² on the banks of the Río Daymán, just 7 km from the city of Salto, it draws water from its own dedicated bore reaching approximately 1,200 m into the same Guaraní Aquifer (SAG) that feeds Daymán, Arapey and the other great Salto thermal centres. The water surfaces at 45 °C — among the warmest in the entire region — and is distributed through four large pools whose temperature is regulated by an automated system (38–40 °C in winter, 35–38 °C in summer). Agua Clara is purpose-built for those who seek peace and tranquillity: a chosen refuge for residents and travellers who seek rest and recovery, as well as for groups looking for a safe and relaxing place to gather.
"El agua termal es el principal atractivo, pero su entorno natural lo convierten en un lugar ideal para descansar."

A Modern Park on
an Ancient Aquifer
Unlike the historic discoveries at Arapey (1945) and Daymán (1952), Agua Clara is a deliberately designed 21st-century addition to Salto's thermal corridor — built to serve a clear demand for tranquillity and proximity to the city.
As Termas del Daymán grew into one of the most visited thermal centres in South America, a clear segment emerged of visitors seeking the healing properties of the same waters without the crowds, water park or family-oriented noise. The commercial centre of Salto identified an opportunity for a quieter alternative.
Parque Termal Agua Clara opened in 2011 on a 3,800 m² site overlooking the Río Daymán, 7 km from Salto city. The park was equipped with its own dedicated thermal bore — approximately 1,200 m deep — tapping directly into the Guaraní Aquifer (SAG) that underlies the region. Water surfaces at 45 °C, making Agua Clara one of the warmest thermal sources in Uruguay.
Agua Clara quickly became the preferred year-round destination for those who need paz y tranquilidad — residents on a regular wellness routine, visitors recovering from illness or stress, and groups seeking a safe and quiet place to gather. Its riverside location, mature trees and unhurried atmosphere set it apart from the livelier Daymán complex 8 km upstream.
Over the years the park has steadily added services — duchas escocesas, finlandesas y danesas, hydromassage beds, professional massage therapists, an on-site restaurant with refreshments, free Wi-Fi across the whole site and on-site medical coverage. The adjacent Hotel Vacacional Daymán gives overnight guests free daily access throughout their stay.
Same Aquifer, Same Heritage —
A Distinctly Calm Setting
Agua Clara's waters share the same deep Guaraní Aquifer (SAG) origin and the same fundamental hydrochemistry as the great Salto thermal centres — Vela & Maraver (Balnea, 2026) explicitly group Guaviyú, Aguas Claras, Altos del Arapey, Arapey Municipal, Club Remeros and Daymán together as a single therapeutic family: warm-to-hyperthermal waters (>35 °C) with weak-to-medium mineralisation, dominant bicarbonate and sodium ions, with variable chloride and calcium. At 45 °C, Agua Clara sits within the world-established therapeutic thermal window of 33–42 °C and well above the minimum 33 °C threshold for balneotherapeutic action recognised in modern medical hydrology.
Agua Clara's waters are characterised by dominant bicarbonate and sodium ions — the same therapeutic signature shared across the Salto/Daymán/Arapey family. Excellent skin tolerance makes these waters suited to prolonged treatments and sensitive populations.
One of the world's largest underground freshwater reservoirs, spanning Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay and Paraguay. Agua Clara's own bore reaches approximately 1,200 m into the SAG — among the deepest dedicated thermal wells in the Daymán area.
A biologically active component abundant in the regional SAG profile. Silica has a centuries-old balneotherapeutic tradition for skin conditions, connective-tissue health and joint inflammation — a key component of Agua Clara's reputation for skin and restorative bathing.
Documented within the regional mineral profile. Calcium and magnesium work in synergy to support bone density, muscle relaxation and nervous-system regulation during sustained warm-water immersion.
Present at trace concentrations consistent with the SAG profile (regionally ≈0.015 mg/L). Natural lithium in drinking and bathing waters is associated in population studies with calmer mood and reduced stress markers — directly aligned with Agua Clara's tranquil positioning.
Pools are regulated automatically by season — 38–40 °C in winter, 35–38 °C in summer — ensuring every visitor finds an optimal thermal immersion temperature regardless of when they come.
The same characteristic that defines the Salto thermal family: weak-to-medium mineralisation (<1 g/L) confers excellent tolerance, making these waters ideal for prolonged exposure and for sensitive populations.
The powerful basalt coverage that insulates the Guaraní Aquifer secures a stable chemical profile and a normal geothermal gradient — guaranteeing the same mineral character at Agua Clara's surface as deep underground.
What Agua Clara's Waters
Can Do for You
The Vademécum (Balnea, 2026) confirms the following evidence-based therapeutic indications for the Salto thermal family — to which Agua Clara explicitly belongs. Its calm environment adds a profound mental-health and stress dimension.
Rheumatic & Arthritic Conditions
Warm immersion in 38–40 °C bicarbonate-rich waters reduces joint load, improves synovial fluid viscosity and relieves chronic pain in osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis and fibromyalgia — the same benefits known across the Salto thermal family, in a calmer setting ideal for sensitive patients.
Circulation & Blood Pressure
Thermal and hydrostatic effects of sustained immersion promote peripheral vasodilation, improve venous return and reduce systolic blood pressure, with documented effects on arterial stiffness and cardiovascular risk markers.
Stress, Anxiety & Sleep
Of all Salto's thermal centres, Agua Clara is purpose-built for the parasympathetic response. Its quiet, tree-shaded riverside setting amplifies the documented "thermal afterglow" — hours of post-bath calm, reduced cortisol and improved sleep onset.
Respiratory Conditions
Beyond bathing, the Salto thermal family is indicated for upper and lower respiratory conditions (rhinitis, sinusitis, bronchitis, mild asthma) through vapour and inhalation techniques — Agua Clara's semi-covered pool and steam services are especially well-suited to these applications.
Skin Health & Dermatology
Bicarbonate and silica-rich alkaline waters soothe and hydrate the skin, support barrier function and have traditional applications in stable phases of eczema, dermatitis and psoriasis, as well as post-oncological skin sequelae — improving hydration, comfort and quality of life.
Healthy Ageing & Sensitive Populations
The combination of weak-to-medium mineralisation, excellent tolerance and a calm setting makes Agua Clara especially well-suited to older visitors, those with sensitive skin or chronic conditions, and programmes of rest and recovery.
Designed for Rest —
Down to the Last Detail
Agua Clara's 3,800 m² layout, riverside position and curated set of services were all designed for a single purpose: rest. Every facility responds directly to that brief.
A semi-covered pool, an open-air pool with interior benches (the preferred of the adult public for its comfort and depth), a relaxation pool and a children's pool — all thermally regulated (38–40 °C winter, 35–38 °C summer) by an automated system.
Three complementary hydrotherapy shower circuits — contrast (Scottish), steam (Finnish) and gentle rinsing (Danish) — providing a complete vascular and respiratory therapy cycle, supervised by on-site staff.
Dedicated hydromassage beds within the pools, alongside extensive rest and relaxation areas with loungers, mats, chairs and tables — the defining feature of the Agua Clara experience.
On-site massage services delivered by highly qualified therapists — bookable directly at the park. Full-body, partial, lymphatic and therapeutic massage available year-round.
On-site restaurant serving food and cooling refreshments, so guests can extend their stay without leaving the park. Shaded quinchos (BBQ areas) and parasol/sombrillas zones for sunny summer days.
Mature trees, riverside setting, shaded picnic and BBQ quinchos and pergola-covered lounge zones give the park its distinctive calm character — a setting designed for unhurried days rather than quick visits.
Free Wi-Fi across the entire park and on-site medical coverage for the safety and well-being of all users — designed to support visitors in recovery, chronic conditions or simply seeking peace of mind.
Directly opposite the park, this hotel gives its overnight guests free daily access to Agua Clara throughout their entire stay — an attractive option for visitors who want a multi-day immersion.
