The Short Version
What It Is
Hotel Horacio Quiroga is the only hotel at Termas de Salto Grande, on the shore of Parque del Lago, where the Uruguay River widens into the lake behind the Salto Grande dam. It is a resort in the full sense: rooms and suites in the main building, self-catering cabins along the water, pools of hot-spring water open 24 hours, a spa, restaurants, horses, a catamaran on the lake, and a water park 1,500 m away that guests use for free.
The water comes from the resort's own well, known as the Termas de Salto Grande, and every room and suite has a hydromassage tub filled with it. The name is the writer's: Horacio Quiroga was born in Salto in 1878.

The Rooms
Rooms, Suites and the Cabañas
The main building has four categories: Standard rooms, rooms in the pool wing (Ala Piscinas), junior suites with a second room with bunk beds and a kitchenette, and suites of about 50 m² with a king bed, a living room and a view of the lake. All sleep up to four, and all have the tub.
The Cabañas del Lago are 1,500 m from the main building and 300 m from the water park: one bedroom for four or five people, or two bedrooms for eight, with a family fridge, a microwave and an electric oven, and a private beach on the lake. They are self-catering, so breakfast and housekeeping are extras, and pets are allowed for a one-off cleaning charge of US$40.

Prices are what the hotel and the booking sites listed in October 2026, per night, converted to US dollars. They are typical, not quotes; they move with the season and the holiday calendar. Foreign passport holders pay 0% VAT on lodging. Nothing on this page is paid for: book directly with the hotel.
The Water
Pools Around the Clock and a Water Park
The pools are open to guests 24 hours a day, and on a winter night the air over the lake is cold and the water is not. The spa does single massages and full treatment programmes.
The Parque Acuático Termas de Salto Grande belongs to the resort but is open to everyone: pools of hot-spring water, slides and a wave pool on the lake shore. Guests go in free as often as they like, with a shuttle from the hotel. Day visitors pay UYU 650 (about US$16), children of 4 to 10 and Salto residents UYU 520, under-3s nothing, every day from 10am to 6pm (the park's own price list, October 2026).

Eating and the Rest
What the Rate Covers
The restaurants do a buffet breakfast, half board or full board chosen from the menu, with children's, coeliac, vegan, vegetarian, diabetic and low-calorie options. The recreational programme is in the rate: horse riding, catamaran trips on the lake, sports courts, bicycles and a sauna. The resort also hosts conferences, weddings and fifteenth-birthday parties.

Getting There and Booking
Good to Know
15 km north of the centre, on the road to the dam. A taxi from town is about US$24, and the city bus goes to Salto Grande too.
Directly with the resort: hotelhoracioquiroga.com, +598 4733 4411 around the clock, WhatsApp +598 93 745 757, info@hotelhoracioquiroga.com.
You do not have to stay to use the water park: every day from 10am to 6pm, UYU 650 at the gate, UYU 520 for Salto residents and children of 4 to 10.
Easter week, the July holidays and long weekends fill the lake as they fill Daymán. Book a few days ahead for those; the rest of the year you can more or less turn up.
The lake in front, the dam a few minutes up the road, and the city only when you feel like it.
